JHSGH 2022 Annual Meeting.
Abe Ribicoff grew up in New Britain and first entered state politics in 1938 and was elected governor in 1954. An early backer of John Kennedy, he served in the Cabinet as Secretary of Health, Education, and Welfare and then spent 18 years in the Senate. He was proud of his Jewish heritage but insisted that his job was to represent all of Connecticut. During the 1970s, he played an important role in U.S. policy in the Middle East.
