Author Judy Bolton-Fasman discusses her memoir, named for her childhood home on Asylum Avenue home in West Hartford. The book recounts her search for answers about her family’s mysterious past, including questions about how her vibrant, Cuban-born Sephardic mother and staid, Yale-educated, patriotic father came together.

In her quest for the truth, Bolton-Fasman contacted friends, relatives and former associates; traveled to Cuba; and even used the Freedom of Information Act to access records. Readers will come to share Judy’s obsession with understanding her parents’ past and putting to rest the mysteries that defined her family life, which she recalls standing out “as the crazy ‘I Love Lucy’ Latinos of West Hartford.”
