Coleman Levy

Coleman Levy

For over a decade, co-owner Coleman Levy was a significant contributor to the overall success of the New Britain Rock Cats baseball team.

Coleman, who served as the Rock Cats’ chairman until its sale in 2011, built the franchise into what many in professional baseball called one of the most successful minor league teams in the nation. Under his leadership, the Rock Cats set attendance records, and in the last year under his leadership played to over 90 percent of stadium capacity. The franchise was also the launching pad for many future major leaguers, World Series champions, MVPs and Hall of Famers. In short, for central and north-central Connecticut, Coleman’s sense of sportsmanship and his vision and diligent work ethic had an enormous effect on the economic and social life of our communities.

Coleman has served in many roles, including board chair of the University of Connecticut Foundation, which supports UConn and UConn Health by advancing their educational, scientific, cultural and research missions. He has also been a dedicated advocate for the development of UConn Division I athletics. Coleman has always believed that sports connect the community in ways many other endeavors cannot.

An attorney by trade, he has made philanthropy a centerpiece of his life, and as such has been involved with such organizations as the Jewish Federation of Greater Hartford, Beth El Synagogue, the New Britain Museum of American Art, Boys and Girls Club of Hartford and others.
