Hermann Kopplemann

Congressman Herman P. Kopplemann (third from right) next to President Franklin D. Roosevelt (center) during the Presidential campaign of 1940. Kopplemann was the first Jew from Hartford to serve in the U.S. House of Representatives. He was re-elected for five terms (1932, 1934, 1936, 1940, 1944).
