Mission Statement

The Jewish Historical Society of Greater Hartford, a non-profit organization, is dedicated to collecting and preserving historical documents, photographs, and memorabilia of the Jewish community of Greater Hartford.

Established in 1971, the Society's main commitment is to reach the largest audience possible through publications, exhibitions, seminars, and educational programs.

PROVIDING an archival center for research and a repository of historical documents and memorabilia relating to the Jewish community of Greater Hartford

Driving Directions

Directions to the Harry & Jeanette Weinberg Community Services Building (within which the Historical Society is located):

I-84 Eastbound:
Get off at exit 43, Park Road. Turn right at the end of the ramp. Make an immediate left onto Trout Brook Boulevard. Travel 2.5 miles to Albany Avenue, Route 44. Turn right and follow Albany Avenue 1 mile to Route 189. Make a left onto Route 189. Go 1 mile; make a right onto 185 at the intersection of 185 and 189. Driveway to the Community Services Building is on the right immediately past Sunrise Assisted Living Facility. Parking and entrance are in the front of the building (facing Bloomfield Avenue). JHSGH is on the first floor to the right of the foyer.

I-84 Westbound:
Get off at exit 48, Asylum Street. Go right at end of ramp. Travel 1.5 miles on Asylum Street to Scarborough Street. Turn right onto Scarborough Street. Go to the end, and make a left onto Route 44, west. In several hundred yards, turn right onto Route 189. Go 1 mile; make a left onto 185 at the intersection of 185 and 189. Driveway to the Community Services Building is on the right immediately past Sunrise Assisted Living Facility. Parking and entrance are in the front of the building (facing Bloomfield Avenue). JHSGH is on the first floor to the right of the foyer.

I-91 North or Southbound:
Get off at exit 35 A-B, Route 218. Head west on Route 218, and follow 218 for about 3.75 miles. Turn left onto Bloomfield Avenue / Route 189. Follow to the intersection of 189 and 185. Make a left onto 185, in front of Sunrise Assisted Living. Follow 185 past Sunrise. Driveway to the Community Services Building is on the right immediately past Sunrise Assisted Living Facility. Parking and entrance are in the front of the building (facing Bloomfield Avenue). JHSGH is on the first floor to the right of the foyer.
